Children are the Victims

Wars and natural disasters have many victims, however children bear the brunt. Many lose parents, all of their families and young girls and boys are duped into prostitution and slavery.

Throughout the developed world including Europe and the Americas, child poverty is also a continual problem. Health, education and social acceptability are all impacted, the children find themselves in circumstances that can spiral of of control.

Why are our children the victims?

Stirring the Evil Within

As darkness fell,
It could be that you're now a resident in Hell.

The wolves they howl.
The craziness that has beset man, means that anyone can fall foul.

As the vampires await their first bite,
Before darkness turns into light.

The Kelpies have risen from the lochs and the pools,
They're joining forces with the ghosts and the ghouls.

Tonight is the night for devils and their kin.
The full moon is shining and that is the reason for the stirring of the evil within.

Digital Assets

My partner and I made a will many years ago,  therefore I thought that I had tied up everything in the eventuality of my sudden departure. However, it wasn't until the other day when I was listening to a radio broadcast on the subject of digital assets, that I realised that I hadn't. I had forgot about my book, the sequel (due for release soon) and all my other works stored on computer and disk. So remember, if you want your work to live on after you die and those you love to take care of it, make sure you legally tie up these loose ends.

Park Life

We tread the muddy paths, meandering in and out of the trees. The beauty of the landscape is uncovered with every step we take. A rabbit and a robin inquisitively stop in their tracks, to check out who has entered  into their world. I wish could I stay here with them, because life seems such a walk in the park.

Grave Interest

There are times when the darker side of  my writing needs to be nurtured. The buildings in Barcelona fed that need previously and anyone who has dropped by here in the past may have seen a few of my photographs taken there.

Another of my regular haunts, (excuse me) are old graveyards. The tombs and headstones display amazing carvings and some of them that I have included today are nearly 300 years old. What stories they could tell.

At Home Amongst the Relics

I'm a believer in preserving our past, so that generations to come can recognise the progress that has been done in certain fields and appreciate the history on our very own doorsteps, giving us a sense of belonging.

Visiting museums and historical sites can give us some insight into the place and the people who live there. If you're a stranger in town sometimes you find out that there is a common denominator between yourself and the locals.

Another reason of course is that once you start to see the years go by, you find that you feel perfectly at home in a building full of relics.

Wake Up Call

Kittiwake colony, Dunbar Castle, East Lothian

Being awakened at 3.30am most mornings, by a chorus of song in hindsight should annoy me; but because it's not some would be Pavarotti standing outside my bedroom window, I don't mind at all.

The dawn chorus I awaken to, is provided by robins, blackbirds, collared doves and a few other of their feathered buddies. Their tuneful enthusiasm makes me smile, no matter what I think the day a head holds for me.

Ruins of Dunbar Castle at Dunbar Harbour

However, after a recent visit to Dunbar, East Lothian, I was wondering what the chorus provided by the colony of Kittiwakes on the ruins of Dunbar Castle, sounds like each dawn. I think I'm just going to allow my imagination to run wild, because I have a feeling they may be a little noisier than the guys that hang around in my garden.
